Lucas Garcia is the crime fighting partner of Anya Corazon in the series Araña.

He was born to Anthony and Erika Garcia in Rockville Centre, New York in October of 1989. He grew up in Boston, Massachusetts away from where the Sisterhood of the Wasp were located. While there his powers manifested revealing him to be the hunter of the Wasp. These powers would pour out from him overwhelming others which led to people shunning him.

Lucas returns to New York with his family to attend college. He along with his twin sister Jessica meets Anya while attending Milton Summers High School. When walking to school with Anya, the Cult of the Tarantula attacks and eventually kidnaps Lucas to steal the power of the wasp hunter from him. He would die briefly when the wasp hunter is removed from him only to be revived by the ant hunter that was also bonded to him. He would later join Anya and his sister to fight the cult.

Girl Without A WorldEdit

Avispa briefly appears when Nomad is being chased by Hydro-Girl and comes across him. He easily defeats the villain. And while returning home is followed by Nomad who eventually loses his trail.

Wasp DominionEdit

Lucas starts the day with Anya trying to conquer his loneliness by introducing him to her friends. The duo would eventually meet up with Spider-Man who is fighting the Red Wasp. They learn that the Sisterhood of the Wasp has returned along with their true leader Hechicero. After dealing with the Red Wasp and some drones the two heroes would go to find Estrella who is caught in a battle with Nomad who believes all insect/arachnid-based characters are evil. They save Estrella and leave as the rest of the Young Allies arrive. As soon as they collect themselves the Sisterhood attacks the five boroughs of New York, the group splits up to take down each section of infestation. While fighting, Hechicero casts a spell that merges earth with Counter-Earth. The heroes and villains all awaken on a new planet dominated by the wasp. Lucas and friends would then again find themselves fighting the Young Allies despite the current situation.

After spending a day alone he finds himself believing that Anya is in trouble and goes to her rescue. In reality, he has been set up by Spidercide and Misterioso. They trap him in a magical barrier that locks him inside with the cloned villain Spidercide. During the fight he is severely injured and saved by Mettle. When the villains flee the scene Mettle convinces Araña and friends to bring him to Rescue Inc. Tower to recover from his injuries. The Young Allies are shocked to see how quickly he's able to get back on his feet. During his stay at the tower he becomes friends with Mettle. His encouragement to Anya helps her defeat Spidercide.

Fight For Your FreedomEdit

The Young Allies are taken captive by the Bastards of Evil and the World Party. When Araña goes missing he along with Estrella and the new White Tiger try to find her. They went to the Spider Society in hopes they would be able to track her only to find they had disappeared. Avispa fought World Party members who helped take Araña into captivity. He and White Tiger would breakout the team.

Empire StateEdit

Lucas and friends graduate from Milton Summers High School. Later that night he goes out with Araña and Estrella to patrol and comes across the Goblin who is fighting the Enforcers. The Goblin's identity is revealed to him as well as the fact that a crime war is erupting between the Kingpin and the Jackal. He leaves alone after getting in to an argument with his sister. When responding to a call for help he finds himself in a trap setup by the Crime-Master. The Goblin arrived in time to help him out. Later after Gilberto Corazon was shot he went with Araña to confront the Goblin and the Crime-Master eventually defeating the pair. Together with Araña, Estrella, Goblin, and the Crimson Spider he went to an unmarked building where the Goblin's family was being held prisoner.

Agony in the AnthillEdit

He confronts his cousin Black Ant who along with the rest of his family and the Ant Council have gone missing. He then confronts Hormiga revealing that Lynn Johnson is his expecting his child. When Hormiga turns his back on his family, Lucas and friends end up fighting the Ant Council. He later goes to LaGuardia Airport to protect his cousin Veronica Abano. The next day he is challenged by Hormiga to participate in the annual Ant Council martial arts tournament. Hormiga uses the magical sphere to seal away Lucas's hunters. Just before he could lose the fight with Hormiga, the Spider Hunter entered his body granting him Araña's powers.

Lack of WillpowerEdit

Eight months have passed and Lucas tries to deal with Anya leaving him. He now uses the identity of Araña since he now has her old powers. While thinking he's tracking Anya he finds the Crimson Spider who has been robbing banks while being mind-controlled by Felix Jade, an old enemy of Anya's.

What Happened to Ted MankowskiEdit

He is brought to a girl who Anya's mother Sofia introduces as his daughter Elizabeth Garcia. After trying to figure out how to deal with it he comes face-to-face with Anya who's own words were enough to shatter his soul.

Going UnderEdit

Lucas falls deeper into depression as it seems to him his friends and family don't have time for him. While out on his own he crosses paths with Menace and fights her in a losing effort. He is wounded by Menace's axe and left to bleed out. Elizabeth arrives to bring him home.

While in a coma, Jessica, Lynn, Elizabeth, and Rocky enter Lucas's mind to try to fix his soul. They see various memories and find a seal memory that hides his real first meeting with Anya.

The four continue as they watch the events of Lucas and Anya's first meeting at the age of thirteen. Lucas saves Anya from the Sisterhood of the Wasp who want her DNA.

Shocking DevelopmentsEdit

With the help of a magical item held by Jessica and it's connection to Elizabeth, Lucas is awakened just in time to save Estrella and the Goblin from Aftershock.

He watches over Lynn atop of the bakery she works as an act of caution due to her troubling nightmares. He was told to watch over her by Jessica who really wants him to stay out of trouble while he recuperates. During this time, he suspects Anya to responsible for the disappearance of Caitlyn Sierra, the Goblin's younger sister. After briefly telling Elizabeth and his mother about his daughter's creation, he is informed that he is to be the best man at his cousin Benjamin Eaton's wedding. He goes with Jessica to Japan to bring back Armory who was sold off to the Hand by her father.

Powers and AbilitiesEdit

  • Superhuman Strength: Avispa can lift 10 tons.
  • Superhuman Speed: Avispa can run and move at speeds that are beyond the physical limits of the finest human athlete. He is ultimately capable of running at speeds in excess of 30 miles per hour .
  • Superhuman Stamina: Avispa's advanced musculature produces less fatigue toxins during physical activity than an ordinary human. This allows him to exert himself physically for much longer periods of time before fatigue begins to impair him.
  • Superhuman Agility: Avispa's agility, balance, and bodily coordination are all enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human athlete. Avispa is extraordinarily limber and his tendons and connective tissues are twice as elastic as the average human being's, despite their enhanced strength.
  • Superhuman Reflexes: Avispa's reflexes are similarly enhanced and are currently about 10 times greater than those of an ordinary human.
  • Wall-Crawling: He has the ability to cling to walls at will, thanks to the wasp and ant hunters.
  • Pyrokinesis: Because he is born into an Ant Council bloodline he is able to conjure fire at will (other Ant Council members can manipulate their sizes rather than cast fire like Hormiga)
  • Flight: He can fly when in possession of the wasp hunter, when not having the hunter he must stick to wall-crawling.
  • Exoskeleton: He can summon an orange or red exoskeleton carapace depending on which hunter he is possessed by that emanates from the tattoo on his upper arm or back; he can control the thickness, coverage, and shape of the carapace. At its thickest, it is resistant to small firearms. However, when using full armor, contact with water leaves him unable to breathe, forcing him to retract it.

Lucas has been trained in martial arts, and knows how to fight very well. He's also bilingual. He is able to hide in shadows and go completely undetected by most people.

Kunai, swords, kunai on chain, staves

  • Avispa's powers and abilities are identical to Araña, with the exception of his pyrokinesis which takes the place of Araña's organic webbing.
